Description


The Center for African and International Studies was established at the Academy in 1999, with the aim of conducting research and studies in various African and international fields. Then, in 2002, Four study programs were introduced to obtain a higher Bachelor's degree (master's) in African Studies, and according to the basic qualitative specialties at the center, the programs were as follows:

  1. Political Studies.
  2. Economic studies.
  3. Social studies.
  4. Legal studies.

 Students were accepted to study for a higher degree (master's degree) according to the above-mentioned specialties, starting from the spring semester of 2002. In the fall semester of 2003, students were admitted to study in order to obtain a bachelor's degree (doctorate) according to the program for this degree. In order to expand the scientific and study programs to include major global spaces and qualitative transformations in international relations, in the fall of 2004, the name of the center was changed to (center for international and Strategic Studies). Three study programs were introduced, focusing on African Studies, European Studies, and international economic relations studies, and in the spring and autumn of 2005, the American Studies and Asian Studies programs were introduced. In the fall of 2005, the first thesis for the degree of higher leave (master) was discussed and approved. In the fall of 2006, the name of the center was changed to the school of Strategic and International Studies, which today includes four departments:

  1. Department of political science.
  2. Department of international economic relations.
  3. Department of Diplomatic Studies.
  4. Department of regional and International Studies. This section is divided into four divisions:
  • American Studies Division.
  • Division of European Studies.
  • Division of African Studies.
  • Division of Asian Studies.

Vision


The school aspires to deepen the spirit of scientific research and analysis among students, oninternational issues affecting the countries of the international community internally and externally, and on issues of peace, security, development and international cooperation.

Message


Believing in the importance of keeping abreast of global changes, and in response to the requirements of scientific research on strategic issues and international policies in the United States of America, South America, the European Union, and the Russian Federation, in addition to major transformations and challenges in the African and Asian continents, this school seeks to deepen the field of research and practical analysis, in front of the expansion of the interest of concerned institutions in Libya, on the topics of political, economic and international diplomatic relations, and to take advantage of the diverse and distinguished experiences in the academy to develop cooperation relations and constructive scientific dialogue with the corresponding academic institutions.

Goals


This school aims to:-

  1. To deepen the scientific research and analysis capabilities of the students enrolled in it, in specialized subjects, in the field of international economic relations, political Strategic Studies, Diplomatic Studies, and Regional Studies specializing in the study and analysis of geopolitical regions on all continents, with attention to anthropological studies, focusing attention on the hotbeds and reservoirs of tension in the world, and initiating forward-looking Studies.
  2. Developing scientific cooperation with academic institutions in Libya and in the countries of the North and south through participation, or through the organization of specialized scientific conferences and seminars on the study of strategic problems and contemporary and future international issues.
  3. Developing theoretical and applied scientific programs for students of the higher Bachelor's degree (master's degree), and students of the exact Bachelor's degree (Doctor of Philosophy PhD), in various departments of the school, in line with the developments witnessed by academic institutions in European countries and developed countries in the world, to ensure the construction of specialized frameworks in strategic and international affairs, to meet the needs of national, regional and international departments and institutions.
